DOE Meeting on Monhegan – March 1, 2017 – The Department of Energy will hold a public informational meeting on Monhegan at the School House from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on March 1st. This is the first stage of DOE’s public scoping process under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

Public scoping is a key component of the NEPA process and is used to provide an opportunity for the public to help define the scope of environmental impacts and issues to be addressed in depth in the Environmental Assessment (EA). DOE intends to prepare an EA to evaluate the potential direct, indirect and cumulative impacts of the MAV project. This meeting will coincide with a 30-day public comment period.

Informational meetings will also be held February 28, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. at the Fire Department Meeting Room at the Town of St. George Office, 3 School Street, Tenants Harbor
